5 Traits of the Modern Creative Leader

Some may argue Leaders are born and NOT made! What ever it may be, in the modern day it is imperative for the leader to be CREATIVE and FLEXIBLE irrespective of the environment he/she may be in operation. The modern day leader takes in to account of the HUMAN elements and it is important to cultivate a culture of managers of every department to be HR focused when handling their "Human Capital".

Conventional Directors/CEOs in the past have over-emphasized on the COST and BOTTOM LINE of an organization and have paid LESS attention/ignored other important factors such as providing recognition and rewards to top performers.

We're living in the most economically challenging times; where the entire globe is bogged down with the WORST economic crisis in decades. It has become of paramount importance to keep the workforce motivated to maintain productivity levels to ensure business continuity. Paying attention to simple HR elements may carry fruitful offerings for the organization in the foreseeable future. Remember, be it in Marketing, Finance or on an Operational level, every Manager must take it upon him/herself to carry these HR factors to their respective work places to benefit from the CO-OPERATION of their HUMAN CAPITAL to achieve organizational SUCCESS!

Here are FIVE simple things YOU can do to SUCCEED as a CREATIVE Leader;

1. Coach and MENTOR your Team as opposed to COMMANDING them to achieve organizational objectives.

2. Managing people and empowering goes hand-in-hand. Do NOT isolate them! The know-how, experience annd solutions are often there; its a matter of HELPING people DISCOVER them!

3. Cultivate Respect by GIVING them first as opposed to DEMANDING it!

4. Learn how to manage BOTH Success and Failure - excessive happiness or frustration can never be healthy to the longevity of an entity.

5. Be HUMBLE about your achievements and accept compliments and constructive criticism with good grace. Do NOT be greedy to steal the limelight from someone who is due for recognition - make way for others to SHINE too!
